Brother Andrew still work sand helps people not only with bibles but with life.

Book H

Have a little Faith

This is my first Mitch Albom book during this A-Z read-a-thon !! With more 2 follow.

This book is 1st class like all of Mitch's books . It's a true story about Mitch's Rabbi who wished Mitch to do his eulogy and a black Pastor near to where Mitch lives.

Two men with so many different things about their lives but so much in common.

Both help others.. both worry about their faith... both men have a good friend in Mitch

In this book the Rabbi and Pastor have passed away but they did so much in their life time. very tender moving and loving book. Mitch still helps at the Church with NO roof.... proving help comes in so many different forms

Please read this one book by mitch if nothing else

But then again wait for books with the letters I and T..........

On to I

The Immortal life of HENRIETTA LACKS

OH my GOD.

I bought book thinking it was a novel. This book has changed my outlook on many things. A poor black woman in USA died of Cervix Carcinoma in 1951.. before I was born.. this woman has saved millions and millions of lives through her cells and the scientific knowledge they created.

Her cells where taken to look at when she died but they noticed they still lived out side her body !! the cells are known as HELA (google it your world will open up)

Her cells have helped develop polio vaccinations given to millions of children ...they have been in space to see how cells react to zero gravity ....helped find DNA .... helped with Parkinson disease, M.S, Diabetes, Organ Donations and Transplants .... Cells were taken from other people but they died.

Henrietta's family have fought for her to be recognised but she has not technically, and to date she never has. Her family have never been given a cent even though it is a billions and billions of dollars industry.. they do not wish any .

I have learnt that hero's come in all shapes, religions and even cells.. We women have a lot to thank Henrietta for ..more women would be dying with cancers and other diseases if not for her ....I have hero's in my life now I have 1 more ...Thank you Rebecca Skloot for her book of knowledge and to her for helping Henrietta's family with the legacy of education from the sales of this book.

Henrietta ...you live on in cells still helping doctors to rid the world of POLIO, PARKINSON'S, LUPUS, MS, ALL CANCERS. AIDS AND THE COMMON COLD.

If like me you love to educate yourself read it .. although it has some bits of science it also tells us who HELA was and still is, a woman and a true hero !!

Fire under the Snow Completed !!

A tibetan monk is put in prison for 30 odd years for no reason by China

This is a very powerful read. This man gives you a book with no malice against his captors' but humility throughout. He is beaten and abused but only by prayer and inner strength does he succeed to live through it and survive.

Would recommend this book whole heartily.

My "Che" bought it for me.

Best book in ages thank you Megan Taylor I learnt a lot from this believe me I did xx

E and now onto F !! Finally

So sorry its taken so long to update this blog and get through the latest book. I have been off work for over 5 weeks and to be honest did not have the heart to read this book  it was called Even the Dogs.

The man in Waterstones got this one so wrong, this book is definately not my sort of thing.

I would advise to watch paint dry instead of reading it

Drugs, drink, death, and post mortem, man found dead in squalor ....... mmmmm see what I mean !!

I would not read any more books by this author ...... Sorry

On to My book for F

I'm already reading it and normal service has resumed

Love it so far. About a Tibetian Monk in Chinese Prison for 35 Years

So far I can say this book is very inspiring I'm sure I will finish this one and be enlighted and uplifted, somthing I need right now

On to Book E !!!

I Have now finished the book for letter D ~ Dissolution
It was a great novel with lots of red herrings twists and turns, intriguing and perfect detective work.

Set in Henry 8th time the description of the landscape and monastery surroundings puts you there. The way the clues are worked out is different every chapter. Lots of people suspected of the murders but every chapter you think you know "who did it" that person is scratched from the list then something else happens and you put the person back on the list.

Four murders and lots of suspects ....will not give it away but its not who you think it is .....there is a happy ending ....Enjoyed the style of writing and would say read it if you enjoy love mystery and intrigue and twist at the end. Would read other books with same medieval detective........a Miss Marple in hose and with codpiece LOL !!!

Next book will begin with the letter E......Even the Dogs by Jon Mcgregor.

I Have started this book its only 195 pages but have never read book like this

Its in chapters but hard reading all over the place.

Has sections in each chapter telling you something to do with the murder.

Lots of swear words which I am unaccustomed to in books (lead a sheltered upbringing perhaps)...on nearly every page  and sometimes not needed....will give it a try but don't think will read any more from this author ....hope it gets better as I get into it ....

Moving on to "D"

well 3 books down 23 to go

Book "C"

Che is still revered as a hero in Cuba.

Every day in schools to start the day all the children say  " I wish to be like Che"

I learnt more about my hero from this book, this man is still seen as a idol in Bolivia some women pray to him as they believe he looks like Jesus.

I learnt that Che's hands where cut off and sent to Castro to prove he was dead, he was buried along an airport runway in Bolivia for over 30 years. He was eventually returned to Cuba.

Che is buried in Santa Clara in a lavish monument designed by his daughter. I have visited it and can say it is very serene and spiritial also befits this Hero of Cuba, he is revered by all in this small town who where liberated in the revolution by this warrior of liberation .

Loved this book have read lots on this man but this book gave me an insight to Che the man as well as Che the revolutionary guerrilla......

On to book "D"

Dissolution by C.J.Sansom

A murder set in the reign of King Henry the 8th  when monastery are being dissolution..looks good recommended by man in Waterstones he stated great murder mystery lets wait and see ....watch this space ...

Book C = Che Guevara by Frank Niess

Sorry its been so long since my last update - Book C is now underway !!

Che Guevara
by Frank Niess

Really loving reading about one of my HEROES

The myth and moving reality of a man loved by Cuba even though he was born in Argentina.

Only the second man to have the greatest honour of citizenship of Cuba.
He became an icon to Latin Americia.

I Have read many books on this man who is spellbinding and the reason I see Cuba as my spiritial home.

Cuba is such a lovely island, with lovely people and great culture, mostly due to Che

He is now buried with full honours conducted by Fidel Castro in Santa Clara, the village that ended the revolution and gave a gateway to Havana and freedom from Batista, this man was Head of the Bank and started the Cooperative that still operates in Cuba today. He worked with peasants in the fields and fought with the soliders on the battlefield, loved by many his image lives on look at any T.shirt with his face on.
